Linda McDonald has extensive playing and coaching experience at all levels of soccer. Growing up in New Jersey, Linda was a member of the Olympic Development Program (“ODP”) New Jersey state select team for six years, the U.S. Region 1 team for four years, and the U.S. National Team pool for four years. She was selected as a high school All-American, received a four year Division I scholarship to Providence College, captained the team her junior and senior years, and was later offered a playing contract by the United Soccer League’s womens professional team, the Boston Tornado.
She has coached and participated in numerous elite soccer camps and has been an active member of the VYS house and travel coaching community for the past five years. She is in the process of obtaining her ‘E’ and national youth licenses.
Professionally, Linda has worked in the financial services industry for over 15 years, most recently with Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. She holds a B.A. in Business and an M.A. in Education.
Vienna is a wonderful community and is fortunate to have so many parents actively involved in VYS. Unlike some other soccer clubs that focus on one or two elite teams across all age groups, the VYS commitment to the development of each and every player should be applauded and embraced. Yes, our goal is to develop strong, talented soccer players that compete at the highest levels, but it is the larger life lessons and enduring friendships that are truly valuable. Soccer has helped teach me the importance of dedication and teamwork, while fostering a competitive spirit, each of which has had a positive impact on my life.
As a parent with two daughters who participate in VYS and a one year old son, I have a deep interest in the success of VYS and feel compelled to assist and offer my perspective wherever I can help for the betterment of our club. I am grateful for this nomination and if elected, plan to utilize my education and corporate training background to help coordinate all aspects of parent education across VYS. Thank you for your consideration.
