US Youth Soccer Rule on Small-Sided Games for 2003-2004 Seasonal Year
The new rule for US Youth Soccer took effect September 1, 2003. The rule states:
U13 and older - No more than 11v11
U12 no more than 11v11 but strongly recommends 8v8
U11 no more than 11v11 but strongly recommends 8v8
U10 no more than 7v7 but strongly recommends 6v6
U8 no more than 5v5 but strongly recommends 4v4
U6 no more than 4v4 but strongly recommends 3v3
The Vienna Youth Soccer board voted in June of 2003 that U6 would play 3v3, U8 would play 4v4, U10 would play 6v6, and U11/12 would have the option of grandfathering in the 8v8. If you have any questions on small-sided games, contact the VYS Technical Director : Kris Kelderman
