Conduct - VYS Coaches will be held responsible for the conduct of their team and supporting spectators. Good sportsmanship conduct before, during, and after the game is expected of all those involved with Vienna Youth Soccer.
Laws Of The Game - Please refer the the VYS Modified FIFA Laws for U6 - U19. These are the Laws of the Game as followed by VYS referees. Any proposed modifications to these Laws may be discussed with with the appropriate age group commissioner. Only a commissioner may submit a request to the VPs of Referees for a proposed modification.
Authority Of The Game - The referee's decision is final, NO EXCEPTIONS. While communication with referees is left to coaches only, any controversies must be discussed at a later time in an appropriate forum with the appropriate people. Coaches/parents/players may direct any issues to the division Commissioner after the game via e-mail, phone, etc. During a game is never an appropriate time or place for such discussion with a referee. Remember, officials are symbols of fair play, integrity and sportsmanship. Let's allow the players to play, the coaches to coach, and the referees to referee.
Parent Volunteer Linesman - A parent volunteering to assist a referee is not considered as an Assistant Referee, if not USSF certified and in proper uniform. The responsibilities of a Parent Volunteer are limited to calling the ball in or out of field of play and whether there is a goal kick or corner kick, ONLY. Any injury should be acknowledged immediately. Parent volunteer linesman may not call offside. A Center Referee has the authority to overturn ANY call made by a parent volunteer and even an AR. Parent volunteer linesman must refrain from making any negative comments/dissent toward the CR. Parent volunteers running the lines must also refrain from cheering for players as it distracting to players.
Referee Abuse - Referee abuse/assault will not be tolerated and may result in ejection from the field or even school/park grounds. Our children are best served by coaches/parents/supporters who are on the field, NOT OFF! Let's set a positive example for all of our children.
Game Report - A Referee Game Report will be submitted by each center referee per each game. Red/yellow cards, incidents, injuries, and sportsmanship conduct of teams will be reported on these cards. Coaches' signatures are required.
Mentors - Referee Mentors will be assigned to most of the younger divisions. Mentors offer support to new referees. They will also act as liaison between coaches and referees.
Referee Evaluations - Do continue to fill out Referee Evaluations. We welcome both positive and negative input as support and areas of need for referees. With your help, we can offer improvement in our referee program. Better referees provide better soccer for our community.
Game Cancellations - Cancellation of a game must be determined and reported by the appropriate age group commissioner. Any failure to comply will be considered a forfeit and the game may not be rescheduled or assigned referees.
