Welcome to another season of soccer! And a sincere Thank You! to all of our referees for your continued support of VYS.

NEW AND RETURNING REFEREES - Interested in reffing VYS house/recreational club league games and/or VYS home ODSL travel league games assigned by the VYS Referee Assignor?  Then check out the GUIDELINES section for all the information you need to get started in the process of becoming a VYS referee.

See NCSL Referee Information if you want to work NCSL and WAGSL travel league games assigned by others.

The responsibilities of a referee must be taken seriously. Remember that you are the symbol of integrity, the ultimate authority at every game ensuring fair and safe play. Many people including players, coaches, spectators, other referees, and league officials are depending on you to show up on time to your game assignments, prepared to perform your game official duties to the very best of your ability.

Questions? Please contact the VYS Referee Assignor.

Round One of Spring Referee Signup (March 27 - March 28)
Spring 2014

Welcome or welcome back to Vienna Youth Soccer. We are looking forward to another great season and referees are part of what makes VYS such a well run organization.

Round One of Spring Referee Signup will begin on March 27 and end at midnight March 28.

Each referee may choose (6) games.  As it is in everyone's best interest to have referees work two consecutive games, priority will be given to referees that request two games in a row. Referees are limited to two games in a row unless he/she requests to work more games with express approval of the assignor.  Please do not request games before March 27.

Please don't leave holes in the schedule. This means if there are six consecutive U10G games, referees should either request games 1 & 2 or games 3 & 4 or games 5 & 6. A referee requesting games 2 & 3, for example, will likely not get the assignment.

If there are siblings, parents or friends that would like to work games together, please email in advance and I will do my best to respect those wishes when assigning.

Before requesting games you must do the following:

1)      Have provided a Referee Profile to the VYS referee assignor

2)      Mailed your completed W-9 form to VYS

3)      Read the Referee Guidelines on the VYS website.

Assignment Selections
Once Round One closes, the referee assignor will make assignments based on experience and fairness.  Referees will receive an e-mail stating either their request has been confirmed or denied.

Please remember that many, many referees will request the same games, so please don't be discouraged if not chosen.

Declined Requests
Then a referee receives an email denying an assignment request, he/she may request another game. The referee may select a new game for each game request that is declined. However, a referee should NEVER have more than a total of 6 games requested and accepted at one time. Therefore, for games that your request is accepted you may not request another game until the second round of signup is opened.

Referee that request games before March 27 and referees that request more than 6 games will NOT be given assignments.  In addition, referees that have not submitted their referee profile and W-9 form (Only to be submitted once while working for VYS) will not be given assignments.
