TEAM INFORMATION

VYS Lightning, a rising U14 girls travel team is currently a Division 2 team in the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL). The team is coached by Hadi Rezazad, father of a current Lightning player. Coach Hadi is assisted by professional trainer Stephanie Hulke, who is also the women’s varsity soccer coach at the Flint Hill School. Coach Hadi has been involved with soccer for over 30 years, both as a player and coach. He holds a National "C" License from the United States Soccer Federation. He is also the head coach of the VYS Strikers, a rising U11 Boys travel team, competing in National Capital Soccer League (NCSL).

The primary goal of the coaching team is to help develop the players to better understand the game of soccer, improve individual technical skills, learn tactics and strategies, and work as a team on the field. Special focus is on helping the players take the next step in becoming more advanced and more competitive in playing the game; while ensuring the enjoyment of the game. All efforts and activities are conducted in a healthy team environment with emphasis on discipline and sportsmanship.

TRYOUTS

Thursday, June 11 Tryout at Oakton High School has been cancelled. The nex tryout will be Tuesday, June 16, 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Oakton High School.

The Vienna Youth Soccer rising U14 girls travel teams, Lightning and Freedom, will hold joint tryouts as noted above. Players interested in participating should wear soccer cleats and shin guards, bring a soccer ball, and bring plenty of water. Information including phone numbers and email addresses, will be collected from each player participating in the tryouts so that they may be notified of the results of the tryouts. Announcement of the selections to the families are expected to occur within one to two weeks after the tryouts.
