U9G VYS Comets capture the CHAMPIONSHIP!

The VYS Comets Team captured the U9/U10 Girl’s Division Championship at the 2nd Annual Great Falls VIP Columbus Day Tournament for Vanessa Péan Foundation. The Comets went undefeated in 4 games!

The U9G Comets displayed excellent teamwork, great match play, and incredible team spirit combined with great Coaching to earn the Champions title. The Comets met some tough competition play beating the Reston United Team by a score of 4 to 3 in a hard fought game on Saturday morning. Their 2nd game on Saturday ended in a draw of 0 to 0 against the Annandale X-treme Red. At 8AM on Sunday morning, the Comets were challenged by a previously undefeated FASA Red Dragons team and the Comets came out victorious with a score of 3 to 1 sending them to the finals.
Their opponents in the Championship game was against a U10G Team, CYA Black Lightening, who had gone defeated in their tournament bracket with a record of 14 goals for and only 1 against. That was until they met the Comets. The Comets came out quick scoring 2 goals within the first 10 minutes of game play and just took the wind out of the Black Lightning’s sail. The Comets went on to defeat the CYA Black Lightening in a surprising final score of VYS Comets 6 to CYA Lightning 0.
