The U9 Comets team is coached by Bill Edgar, Emil Ravesteijn and Dave Young.  All three coaches have been dedicated to the Vienna Youth Soccer League for many years.  Bill started coaching U5 girl’s house soccer and has grown with them and coached three All Star teams.   Emil holds a National United States Soccer Federation (USSF) ‘D’ Coaching license and Virginia State ‘D’ coaching license, and Dave holds a Virginia State “F” license.   Emil has been coaching for the past ten years with both boys and girls teams in NCSL, ODSL and WAGS travel soccer leagues.  Emil is also the Head Coach of a U15 Comet’s girl’s team competing in WAGS this season and a U19 boy’s house team.  Dave has been coaching with Bill in VYS from U5 forward, coached All Stars, and held the VYS NCSL Commissioner position.

Each shares the same coaching philosophy:  “To inspire, challenge, and develop a committed group of girls both individually and as team.  The Coaches wish to develop each girl’s awareness and confidence to play the game as to the best of their abilities.  They demonstrate that the game of soccer should be enjoyable and played in a sporting and friendly manner, even when it’s highly competitive.   They strive to ensure that each girl on the team would have a rewarding and fun learning experience.”
