Coach's Blog - 04/30/08
We're coming off of a strong performance over a very tough BRYC Lightning team last Saturday, with a great overall team performance by our girls. Despite 3 absent players, our girls kept fighting throughout the game and it really paid off! The fact that we stayed competitive and ended up pulling ahead for the win in the 2nd half was particularly satisfying for both coaches and parents alike. I'm sure the Lightning will be on the look out for us when we meet them again later this season!
The coaches recognized Reilly as player of the week for her hard work and dedication during both our practices and game last week. Reilly had 2 goals on Sat against the Lightning, and showed a lot of spirit and drive throughout the week. Congratulations Reilly, and great work!
Unfortunately we missed training with coach Eddie on Mon due to rain, but we got in a good practice and scrimmage tonight. We focused on shooting/kicking technique, defensive strategy, and goalie drills. We hope that both Hannah and Jeanne can quickly recover from their injuries (Hannah injured her ankle late in today's scrimmage, and we had to have Jeanne sit out part of practice due to a knee/leg issue). We've got training tomorrow with Coach Rado, and then an opportunity to have our girls participate in the OHS game on Fri evening as ball girls. This is of course optional, but a great way to get our girls more exposure to play at the high school level.
We've got a double-header this weekend against a tough team from Arlington on Sat morning, and another from McLean on Sun afternoon. We're going to have Alison, Nikki, Maddie, and Macy in goal this weekend. We'll be looking to put up another strong offensive and defensive performance against this weekend's opponents. I'm sure our girls are up to the challenge.
Gooooo Comets!
