Players interested in participating are encouraged to attend all tryout sessions, wear soccer cleats and shin guards, and bring plenty of drinking water. Online registration is free. Information including phone numbers and email addresses will be collected from each player participating in the tryouts so that they may be notified of the results of the tryouts. Rising U14 Girls Academy (current U13 players)Tryout DatesOnline registration for tryouts is free and required. Click here to register for the 2013 tryouts. All girls interested in trying out for the rising U14G Patriots Academy are invited to attend training sessions during the month of May. Girls are encouraged to attend multiple sessions in order for coaches to better assess the girl’s skills.
Final tryouts will be held June 10, 12, and 14 and are by invitation only.
Any girl still interested in the Patriots, but did not attend a tryout, should contact Doug Walls directly (info below). We will arrange a training/tryout session. The Patriots are trained and coached by Hank Leung. Coach Hank is a US Soccer "A" license coach, a 3 time National Coach of the Year, a former USWNT Coach and an NCAA Division 1 championship winning coach. Nottoway Park – 9537 Courthouse Rd Vienna, VA Currently, two VYS teams are competing in the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) and one team is competing in the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL). Please come 20 minutes early to fill out paperwork and have your picture taken. All tryouts will start promptly. In the fall, the U16G Strikers White program plans to have practice sessions 2x/week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We will most likely have summer practices, June/July is undecided, but we will definitely be practicing in August preparing for a preseason tournament in late August/Labor Day. Attendance at practice is highly encouraged, but the coaches understand that high school age players have numerous commitments. Rising U16 Boys (current U15 players)Posted 6/7/13: Due to today’s heavy rains in the Vienna area which has closed all grass fields for the next 2 days, the VYS United ’97 rising U16 Boys travel club has cancelled its third and final try-out session scheduled for Saturday afternoon, 08 June, at Clark’s Crossing Park. We would like to thank each and every participant for their effort on the field and their interest in the club; we will contact and provide each individual participant the results to their tryout by the close of business Monday evening, 10 June. If you don’t hear from us by 10 June, please contact Barry Dyson at navy86swo@me.com. Announcement of the selections to the club will occur by 11 June, with a meeting of 2013-2014 club member parents on Wednesday evening, 12 June at 7:30 pm at the Vienna Community Center multi-purpose room (120 Cherry St SE, Vienna, VA 22180 ) to collect checks, distribute schedules, and order new uniforms prior to families going on summer vacation. The VYS United ’97 rising U16 Boys travel club (Black team, Red team, and White team) will hold tryouts for the 2013-2014 club on the following dates:
The club will have all 3 teams competing in the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), with all teams sharing the same trainers and working together as a single club. The club expects to extend offers and accept as many as 54 members for the upcoming season. We are looking for boys who are energetic, have a positive attitude, and are committed to and interested in playing soccer at a "higher level" to come out and tryout for this VYS club. Boys interested in participating should come to tryouts wearing cleats, socks and shinguards, and should bring plenty of drinking water. The two-time ODSL Champion U19G Falcons are having tryouts for next year! We are looking for High School aged girls who want the competitiveness of a travel team and the camaraderie of a multi-age team. The Falcons foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of each player in a multi-age setting. Our goal is to provide a positive experience for our varying age group.
