Welcome to the VYS 99G Patriots Web Site

We wear red. We wear white.
We shoot, we score, we fight, fight, fight.
Gooooooo Patriots!

The VYS Patriots is a U11 girls soccer program.  The Patriots consists of four teams, Patriots Black, Patriots Red, Patriots Silver and Patriots White, that play in two leagues; Washington Area Girls Soccer (WAGS) and Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL).  The Patriots organization works as a single, academy program rather than four separate teams.  The girls practice and train together under a single trainer, with all coaches participating in the practices.  The Patriots are taking a long-term approach to develop the girls’ skills for the future so that when they reach the more competitive ages the girls will have mastered the fundamentals.

The four VYS Patriots soccer teams had tremendous success in preseason tournaments the weekends of March 19/20 and 26/27.  The four teams had a combined record of 12-1-3 and outscored their opponents 52-20, including five shutouts, and went home with one finalist and three championship trophies, including the Jefferson Cup Platinum Division champion trophy.  This highlights the tremendous success of the Patriots’ program.

Patriots Silver Wins Liberty Cup!

The Patriots Silver played in their second FPYC Liberty Cup; this year in the White Division.  Silver opened the cold day edging out a tough ODFC Hawks 2-1.  They followed this with a 4-1 victory in a late afternoon game against SYC Storm Red.  The second day Silver got off to a slow start with a 0-0 tie opposite LMVSC Patriots Blue.  But in the final game, Patriots Silver poured it on, defeating FCSC United 99 Black 6-0.  This was Patriots Silver first Championship trophy.

GMU All-American Omolyn Davis Practices With the Patriots

George Mason University redshirt senior Omolyn Davis spent a day last March practicing with the VYS Patriots.  She was named first-team All-CAA the past two seasons and she was selected National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American last fall.  Davis was first in the CAA in points per game, second in assists per game and third in goals per game.

Patriots Silver Receives the ODSL Randy Rawls Sportsmanship Award

The Patriots Silver (ODSL U10 Girls Div 2), and sister team Patriots White (ODSL U10 Girls Div 1), each received the Randy Rawls Sportsmanship Award, which exhibits the best sportsmanship during the Spring 2010 season. In addition to the coaches votes, sportsmanship points are averaged from each referee report card.  Also, points are subtracted for yellow and red cards accumulated during the season. The prestigious award is named after Randy Rawls, one of the leagues original founders and its first President.  The award honors the winner’s sense of fair play, something for which Randy was renowned as he sought to bring soccer opportunities to the youth of Northern Virginia. Congratulations to both Patriots teams.
