Personal Statement:

I grew up just down the road in Sterling, Virginia and started playing soccer when I was seven years old. Of all the sports I tried in my youth, soccer was the one that constantly appealed to me. I continued to play through youth house soccer and into high school. I played coed soccer on clubs while a student at Virginia Tech.

When my wife and I moved to Vienna and had our first daughter, we wanted to get her into a team sport as soon as she was old enough. We saw the value in these organizations from an athletic, social and emotional development stand point. As it turned out, soccer was the team sport that allowed players at the youngest age. We signed up and I volunteered to be an assistant coach for the first season. I became a head coach the next season and never looked back.

VYS has offered our family so many opportunities for building skills that are essential for every aspect of our lives. The programs here have not only enriched my daughter’s lives, but mine as well.

The friends I have made with the fellow parents and the players are all cherished. My goal in running for an At-Large board position is to represent house soccer on the board. I see the many programs offered across all aspects of VYS and want to make sure that they benefit all members of this great organization.

My main goals as an At-Large board member will be the following 1) ensure that House soccer continues to reap the benefits of the many programs that VYS offers, 2) support the development of new programs that can be offered for both house and travel, and 3) strive to find ways to increase the participation in house soccer.
