David Harvey has been playing soccer his entire life beginning in Germany where he developed a love for the game in his elementary years. Later, David played for LMVSC travel and Hayfield High School. From there, he continued to play in rec leagues, both outdoors and indoors through today. Over the past 6 years, David has coached both his daughters’ and son’s house soccer teams. He currently has a rising U14 girl in house, a rising U11 girl in travel, and a rising U9 boy in travel. David has been the House Commissioner for the current U8 boys age group since they began playing soccer, 4 years ago, and most recently has been the U8 boys Crossover AGC working to create a fun, positive, and well-coordinated environment for our Crossover players. As for formal qualifications, he has his E coaching license, a US Youth Soccer National Youth License, and both PCA certifications.
David is a Principal Engineer at the MITRE Corporation, a non-profit focused on serving the public interest by improving our nation’s security and infrastructure; not to be confused with the for-profit mitre company, the soccer apparel manufacturer. He has leadership responsibility for important government outcomes and homeland security projects.
David has been an active member in the VYS community since 2007 and brings a network of contacts across the northern Virginia community where he grew up playing travel soccer and high school soccer. He also brings a wealth of knowledge of how other clubs are structured, how they run their programs, and what their strengths/weaknesses are. This provides a solid, well-informed foundation from which to build.
