Every VYS travel team will advertise and hold annual open tryouts at the end of the spring season beginning in June to prepare their roster for the coming seasonal year beginning September 1. Players interested in joining a team are invited to attend these scheduled open tryouts. See Tryout Ads below for further information about individual team tryouts.
A team may also hold a tryout during the seasonal year to consider a player not already committed to another travel team. And teams often welcome guest players to training and tournaments throughout the year. Please contact a team directly to arrange for a tryout and/or guest playing with that team.
Player selection and timely notification is conducted by the head coach and is subject to league or tournament, and VYSA player registration requirements.
Teams may advertise tryouts below, on their team page (see team links below), on their league website (see league links at left), in area newspapers, and/or otherwise. Those teams listed side-by-side below conduct joint annual open tryouts.
Age groups (U#) are for the seasonal year Sep–Aug noted, and are updated to rising age groups in the spring.
Players should come to tryouts prepared with soccer cleats, shinguards covered with socks, and drinking water. It is suggested that players submit their contact information to the team in advance so that they can receive any last minute schedule updates.

Travel teams are formed for the U9 age group and above. If your U8 recreational player is interested in playing on a U9 travel team in the fall, please submit your contact information to the VYS Director of U9B Travel Teams so that your player can be invited to rising U9 team tryouts at the end of the spring season beginning in June.
