Vienna Lightning, a rising U13 girls travel team is currently a Division 2 team in the Old Dominion Soccer League. The team is coached by Orest Fedak, the father of a current Lightning player. Coach Fedak is a former college Division I player who has held a coaching license since 1983 and he is a member of NSCAA and a licensed Virginia state referee.
.
Coach Fedak’s 25 years of coaching includes overseas experience in Germany and Australia. Lightning was started three years ago; most of the current team members are original players. The team currently has a female trainer from George Mason University.
.
Lightning has been practicing Wednesday and Friday afternoons at Wolftrails Park in Vienna and has been holding an optional third day of training on Monday evenings at Kilmer Middle School.
.
Coach Fedak’s philosophy is a balanced approach to competitive soccer, taking into account the competing interests of his players and families. The team has a more seasonal (Fall and Spring) and lower-key approach to soccer than many travel teams, with some pre-season training and tournament play.
